AC Shear Test

Purpose

A test used to identify acromioclavicular joint pathology.

Technique

Patient is positioned sitting.

Clinician cups the AC joint anteriorly and posteriorly on the side being tested.

Clinician then applies compression to the AC joint.

Positive

Pain, crepitus, or subluxation

Interpretation

A positive test indicates AC joint pathology.
