Purpose

This test uses the femur to apply a superoinferior force to the innominate and shear it against the sacrum. Used to identify SI joint dysfunction.

Technique

Patient is positioned supine.

Clinician bends the knee on the side being tested.

Clinician then presses on knee in an inferior and superior direction.

Clinician repeats the test on the other side.

Positive

Reproduction of pain in the SI joint on the side being tested.

Interpretation

A positive test indicates SI joint dysfunction.
