Placement and Positioning

Patient position: sitting holding a pencil/pen in hand of the side being measured and patient uses the hand on the opposite side to stabilize the humerus

Goniometer axis placement: placed over the head of the third metacarpal

Stationary arm placement: perpendicular to the floor

Moveable arm placement: parallel to the pencil/pen

Normal ROM

80-90°
