Mill’s Test

Purpose

This test is used to confirm lateral epicondylitis, lateral epicondylalgia, or tennis elbow. This test is usually a follow up test to the Cozen’s test.

Technique

Patient is positioned sitting.

Clinician palpates the lateral epicondyle on the side being tested with one hand.

Clinician uses his other hand to fully extend the elbow then passively extends and radially deviates the wrist.

Positive

Pain or reproduction of other symptoms in the area of the lateral epicondlye.

Interpretation

A positive test confirms lateral epicondylitis or lateral epicondylalgia.
